Tom Petersen is the founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of PMMI. Prior to starting PMMI, Tom worked in development for the University of Minnesota hospital system and later St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. Tom left St. Francis in 1978 to focus his professional efforts on commercial real estate. He opened, and continues to serve as the president, for the following companies: Petersen Development Corp., Associated Commercial Brokers Co., and Associated Management Service, Inc.
Tom felt called to start PMMI after working with a Ghanaian ophthalmologist to build a medical clinic in Accra, Ghana. Tom found brick and mortar development within Sub-Sahara Africa to be very difficult. Fortunately, a few years after finishing the medical clinic in Ghana, Tom learned that Laurie Garrett, Senior Fellow for Global Health Council on Foreign Relations, theorized making medical clinics out of shipping containers as a way to avoid brick and mortar development of healthcare facilities.
Tom currently resides in Auburn, Kansas with his wife Kathy. In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchild.
Geoff Finch is the Secretary - Treasurer for PMMI. Geoff brings over 30 years of experience to PMMI. For the last three years, Geoff has worked with the US Treasury OTA organization in as Resident Advisor. His duties included brokering the resolution of a dispute on delivery of a public-private partnership (PPP) new passenger terminal at the Liberia airport, in-depth analysis of the Costa Rica legal and institutional PPP framework and recommended changes, organizing public forums and leading training sessions with Government employees on various aspects of the national PPP program, advising on new PPP initiatives for the national PPP Unit in waste management and public buildings, and advising the PPP Unit staff on various specific projects including a proposed urban rail transit system. He has also supported the development of a PPP capability in El Salvador, working closely with the national ports authority on the airport and railway.
Prior to joining OTA Geoff provided finance and contract support for Lunsford Group and affiliate companies, a private real estate development and holding company based in Irvine, California. Additionally, before joining Lunsford Group, Geoff spent two decades in progressively responsible financial positions with Lockheed and Lockheed-Martin, ending as Vice President & CFO of Lockheed Martin Finance Corp. where he provided structured finance solutions for Lockheed Martin's customers worldwide. He also served as VP of Finance for VentureStar LLC, a $5 billion joint business venture (PPP) between Lockheed Martin and NASA for a next generation space transportation system. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Business Development at Lockheed Finance Corp. where he managed a team of nine professionals and an annual deal flow of $18 billion in the parent company’s Aeronautical, Electronics, Information and Space systems divisions. He negotiated and closed over $500 million in customer financings supporting the sale of over $2 billion in company products and services. He began his corporate career at Lockheed after serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He has extensive international business experience in Asia, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa and is fluent in Spanish.
Geoff holds a B.A. degree cum laude from University of Arizona in Latin American Studies and a Master of International Management from American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). Geoff and his wife, Betty, maintain a permanent residence in Glendale, CA. They have two adult children.
Dr. Nathan Bammes is the Director of Medicine and Physician Engagement of PMMI. Nathan holds a B.S. in Biology from Kansas State University, a M.B.A. from Rockhurst University, and a D.O. from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his internal medicine residency with the University of Missouri-Kansas City in July 2015 and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is currently completing a critical care fellowship at UMKC. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and working on cars. He currently lives with his wife, daughter, two German Shepherds, and cat in Kansas City, KS.
Alex Vandyke is the Director of Engineering for PMMI. Alex is passionate about solving problems and providing our customers with the highest quality product. He oversees all engineering aspects related to the structural design, creation, and placement of our mobile medical clinics. He holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and B.S. in Mathematics from Kansas State University. Alex also has published an article in the academic journal of Applied Physics Letters.
In addition to his work at PMMI, Alex works as an engineer for General Electric Aviation in Manhattan, KS. During his spare time, Alex utilizes his engineering and construction experience to volunteer at his local Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore.
Dick is the Director of Sales for PMMI. He received his B.A. from Washburn University in History and Political Science. He continued his education at the Vanderbilt University Owen School of Business and University of Kansas School of Business. Dick’s professional career started with Fleming Foods in management training and purchasing. The buying experience he gained while working for Fleming Foods helped propel his sales and sales management career. After leaving Fleming Foods, Dick worked with International Paper for fifteen years and RR Donnelley for thirty years.
In his spare time, Dick enjoys volunteering and shares his time with the following organizations: The American Cancer Society; United Way; Hospice; Washburn University; Topeka Parks and Recreation; and The Topeka High School Historical Society. Dick also enjoys running, golf, traveling, and reading. Dick currently resides in Topeka, Kansas with his wife, Linda. He has two children and nine grandchildren.
Betty is the Director of Nursing of PMMI. She brings over 30 years of nursing experience and a passion for bringing health care to underserved areas. She has worked internationally as a nurse for U.S. Embassy medical clinics, the American Red Cross, and the California Air National Guard. Additionally, Betty has worked as a U.S. State Department medevac escort assisting international transportation of patients in need of urgent care. Betty and her husband, Geoff, currently reside in Glendale, CA. They have two adult children.
John Duncan is the Director of Finance for PMMI. John graduated with a master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas School of Business in 2012. John began his accounting career with KPMG where he served as a Federal Tax Associate. While at KPMG he specialized in the construction, health care information technology, and real estate industries. In 2015, Duncan began working for the accounting firm Walsh Washburn in Overland Park, KS. There he specializes in Affordable Care Act compliance. He is excited to use his accounting knowledge and experience to help provide health care to those in need.
A resident of the Kansas City area since 2012, John is an enthusiastic member of the community and enjoys golf, fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
David Petersen is the Director of Planning and Development for PMMI. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Kansas. Before attending KU, David spent six years in the infantry division of the United States Army. During his time in service, David was deployed to Mosul, Iraq. In addition to drawing on his previous military experience to help PMMI with strategic planning, David also draws on the experience he gained while working in commercial real estate to help identify locations for new clinics.
David currently resides in Topeka, KS with his two dogs. In his spare time he enjoys golf, hunting, and snowboarding.
